OVST Seeks New Board Members in 2018
Are you interested in an opportunity to be more connected in our community?
Have you always wanted to get involved with OVST? Do you have a passion to volunteer? Maybe you have kids involved in theater or other performing arts?
OVST will be seating new board members in 2018 and we welcome anyone interested in being part of this 66-year-old organization to contribute to our continued development, programming, fundraising, education and outreach, grant writing, and performances.
Join us for an OVST Meet and Greet!
Date: Thursday, October 26th
Location: Athens Uncorked (upstairs loft)
The meet and greet will provide an opportunity for those interested in joining the OVST board of directors to meet current board members, ask questions, learn more about the organization, and discuss their interest in potentially serving on the board.
We are excited about this opportunity to involve our community and look forward to meeting potential board members!
- Board members serve 3-year terms
- New board members will begin in January 2018
- $50.00 voluntary annual board dues
- Board meets monthly (typically on the third Thursday, 5:30-7:00)
- Opportunities for committee work and to serve in areas that interest you or speak to your skill sets

About the Ohio Valley Summer Theater
Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Ohio Valley Summer Theater’s community continue to revel in our 66-year-strong history of summer theater productions.
Founded in 1951 in Athens, Ohio by a small group of Ohio University professors and community members, OVST originally served as a community theater and a laboratory for Ohio University’s School of Theater, producing four to six plays each summer. In 1988, OVST was re-established as a separate 501(c)3 non-profit organization with continued support from Ohio University. The community and University collaboration continues to benefit from strong collaboration, dedicated donor-patrons, ongoing operating support from the Ohio Arts Council, and local and regional business partnerships.
OVST offers high-quality performances for the entire family; partners with theater professionals, Ohio University faculty and students, and community members; offers an annual youth theater camp; and helps to organize and support regional arts events and performances year-round.
As a donor-supported, non-profit organization, we encourage innovative approaches to live performance and welcome new participants and partners to our productions, youth camp, and volunteer Board.
OVST is proud to be a community heritage organization that adds to the vibrant, cultural fabric of Athens County and the surrounding Appalachian region.
